LUXE PROMPTING · IMAGE WORKSHOP

ChatGPT Images 2.5 has arrived. OpenAI announced the release on September 8, with a rollout across ChatGPT plans on web, desktop and mobile.

The update goes beyond a new model. Sketch lets you draw a reference directly in ChatGPT; type @Sketch to try it. OpenAI is also introducing Poster and Merch templates, comments directly on images, and ways to share prompts. A thoughtful brief is still where a useful image begins.

So here is your first creative session: turn a product photo into an editorial concept, design a little cafe poster, then change its palette without starting over. Three briefs, three things you can actually use.

What to try first

Start with the image you need this week. A shop owner might choose the product brief; a creator planning an event might start with the poster. Attach a reference when the details matter, and save each result before asking for another version.

If your tool offers the named models, OpenAI positions Flare for speed and Sunburst for more demanding image quality. Both generate and edit. Our suggestion: use Flare for quick directions and try Sunburst when the detail needs extra care. Compare the results, not just the names.

01 / Make your product the hero

Use a clear candle photo you own or have permission to use. The aim is a believable new setting, not a redesigned product. Attach the photo and paste this:

Create an editorial product photograph using the candle in my attached image. Place one candle on pale limestone, with soft morning light from the left and a gentle shadow to the right. Preserve the vessel shape, wick count, wax level, label position and visible lettering. Use a vertical 4:5 composition. Place the candle in the lower two-thirds, leaving calm empty space above for a headline I will add later. Show natural stone texture and subtle reflections on the vessel. Add no flowers, flames, smoke, extra candles, price badges or invented label text. Keep the mood quiet, warm and realistic.

Check the result: Look at the label before the lighting. Compare the shape, lettering and wicks with your original. If exact product details drift, keep the original product pixels in the final composite.

AI made PMs faster. Multiplayer mode is still broken.

A PM can summarize research, draft a PRD, and mock up a prototype before lunch. The hard part starts when the team has to decide what actually gets built.

Jira Product Discovery gives product teams one place to capture insights, prioritize ideas with consistent frameworks, and build living roadmaps stakeholders can rally around.

And because it’s connected to Jira, the context behind every decision stays with the work—so developers and their agents know not just what to build, but why.

AI helps PMs move faster. Jira Product Discovery helps the whole team build with confidence.

02 / Make a poster people can read

A short headline and a clear layout give you something concrete to judge. This fictional cafe poster is ready to try as written:

Design a portrait poster for a fictional cafe event. Use warm cream paper, espresso-brown lettering and one small hand-drawn coffee cup. At the top, write exactly: SUNDAY SLOWDOWN. Under it, write exactly: Coffee. Records. No rush. Near the bottom, write exactly: 10 AM TO 2 PM. Make the headline the largest element. Give the two smaller lines generous breathing room and leave clear margins on all sides. Keep every word straight and readable, with no illustration crossing the letters. Add no other words, logos, watermarks or QR codes. Aim for a charming neighborhood cafe, not a crowded flyer.

Check the result: Read every character, especially the time. Check the downloaded image at the size people will see it. For a real event, verify the details and set essential text as editable type before printing.

03 / Keep the design. Change the color.

Keep your favorite poster and attach that exact image. Now ask for one change, with the parts you love explicitly protected:

Edit the attached poster. Change only the warm cream background to very pale lavender. Preserve the exact words, letter shapes, spacing, text positions, coffee-cup drawing, margins and crop. Keep all espresso-brown lettering unchanged. Do not add anything, move anything or restyle the design. Where the background meets an existing edge, preserve that edge as closely as possible.

Check the result: View the original and edit side by side at the same size. Check punctuation, letter spacing and margins. A lovely new color is not a keeper if it changes the words.

The 4K detail worth knowing

The API supports 3840 × 2160 output, but OpenAI labels outputs above 3,686,400 total pixels experimental. That includes 4K and even a 2048 × 2048 square. These are API settings, not a promise that every ChatGPT screen has a 4K button. Check the downloaded dimensions and the actual detail before calling an image finished.

Save the reference, the prompt and your favorite result together. Next time, change just one decision: the light, the palette or the framing. You are building a little visual toolkit, not chasing one lucky generation.

Which would help you most right now: PRODUCT, POSTER or EDIT? Reply with one word and the detail you want to get right.
